Uetsu cloth Hassun Nagoya obi

Strip the bark from a 15- to 20-year-old shin tree.
Boil it with wood ash to soften it, then pickle it in rice bran.
``Shina-zuke'', ``Shina-zaki'' to tear fibers, and ``Shina-umi'' to connect string-like shinae into long threads while adjusting the thickness.

The obi is carefully woven by hand using thread created through numerous processes, giving it the warmth that only natural cloth can provide.
